Permanent residence is available after five continuous years of legal residence in Portugal. We assemble your complete AIMA file, book the appointment, and represent you through to the issuance of your permanent residence card. This service is delivered with our partner lawyers.

- Your A2 Portuguese language certificate (e.g. CIPLE / CAPLE)
- Criminal record certificate, proof of address in Portugal and proof of means

- A booked AIMA appointment and representation through the process
- Your Portuguese permanent residence card, once issued by AIMA
What happens after you order
1. Assessment & file build
We review your eligibility and assemble the complete file: proof of five years, A2 certificate, criminal record, proof of address and means.
2. Appointment & submission
We book your AIMA appointment and submit the application with our partner lawyer representing your file.
3. Follow-through to the card
We follow the process through to the decision and the issuance of your permanent residence card.
Timeline: File assembly typically takes a few weeks depending on how quickly you obtain your certificates; AIMA appointment and processing times vary considerably and are outside our control, so the card is generally issued several months after submission.

Frequently asked questions
When can I apply for permanent residence?
Generally after five continuous years of legal residence in Portugal, provided the other conditions — including A2 Portuguese and a clean criminal record — are met.
Do I need to speak Portuguese?
Yes. Permanent residence requires proof of A2-level Portuguese, typically through the CIPLE exam. The exam itself is arranged and paid by you and is not included in our fee.
Do you guarantee approval?
No. This is a facilitation service delivered with a partner lawyer: we assemble and represent your file to the highest standard, but the decision rests with AIMA and cannot be guaranteed.
What government fees apply?
The AIMA fee for permanent residence is approximately €225, paid separately from our service fee. Translations and the language exam are also separate.
