Editorial policy & standards

Last updated: July 2026

GrowIN Portugal publishes news and guides for foreigners moving to, living in and doing business in Portugal. Our aim is simple: be the clearest, most accurate English-language source on immigration, tax, property, cost of living and the policy changes that affect newcomers. This page sets out how we work and how to reach us if we get something wrong.

Who publishes this

Articles are published under the byline GrowIN Portugal Editorial — our editorial team, not a single named author. GrowIN Portugal is operated by GROWIN PORTUGAL, UNIPESSOAL LDA, based in Faro, Portugal. Where a piece involves specialist tax, legal or accounting questions, it draws on the knowledge of our in-house professionals and, where relevant, partner lawyers and accountants.

Our standards

  • Original synthesis, never copying. We read primary and reputable secondary sources, then explain developments in our own words with a foreigner-focused angle. We do not reproduce source text. Any direct quotation is short and attributed.
  • Verify before we publish. Figures, dates, thresholds and legal changes are checked against official authorities — AIMA, the Autoridade Tributária, IRN, IMT and equivalents — before publication.
  • Sources are cited. News articles list the sources they draw on so readers can check the record themselves.
  • Information, not advice. Our content is general information. Immigration, tax and legal outcomes rest with the relevant authorities and depend on your circumstances. We never guarantee visa or tax outcomes, and we recommend professional advice for decisions that matter.
  • Independence and clarity. We flag where something is uncertain rather than presenting a guess as fact, and we update pieces when the law or the facts change.

How our content is produced

Our articles are produced with the assistance of AI tools and are reviewed under human editorial oversight against the standards above before publication. We use these tools to research and draft efficiently; editorial responsibility for what we publish rests with GrowIN Portugal.

Corrections policy

We correct errors promptly and openly. If a published fact is wrong, we fix it and — where the change is material — note that the article has been updated, with the revised date shown on the page. Rules in Portugal change often, and dated figures can go out of date; if you spot something that no longer looks right, please tell us.

To request a correction, email hi@growinportugal.com with the article title and the specific point at issue, ideally with a source. We review correction requests quickly.
